Travel site sends three of the hardest holiday workers to SoCal for some rest and relaxation
CHICAGO, Illinois (December 11, 2018) – The holidays are a time for peace and joy, but for thousands of professional Santas and their helpers, it’s also the busiest. St. Nicks across the country are working overtime this month at shopping malls, hospitals, holiday parades and senior centers, listening to children’s wishes and spreading good cheer.
That’s why Orbitz sent three veteran Santas on a trip to de-stress, and where better than in sunny ‘Santa’ Monica. National Santa Tim Connaghan from Long Island, New York, the Wake Forest Santa Jim Dyer from Wake Forest, North Carolina, and The Real Black Santa Dion Sinclair from Atlanta, Georgia met in SoCal for a few days of rest and relaxation. Combined the working Santas have 80 years of experience and have booked gigs such as Santa in the Hollywood Parade, Santa at Radio City Music Hall and have even appeared on a truTV reality show.
According to the Santas, the trip was a “great opportunity to have a few days to relax before the big push.”
Orbitz will send more deserving Santas on a post-Christmas vacation through its #SantaNeedsAVacation donation program. Now through December 31, 2018 Orbitz is asking parents to upload photos of their kids meeting Santa on Instagram with #SantaNeedsAVacation. For every tagged photo, Orbitz will donate $5 in Orbucks – the site’s travel currency – so that volunteer and working Santas can take a trip in any location of their choosing after the holiday. The money will go toward hotel stays for 10 Santas who have graduated from Tim Connaghan’s School4Santas program.
